Rocky Horror Picture Show

Saturday, October 16

Doors open 7:00 p.m., Movie starts 9:15 p.m.

It is our 13th season celebrating the time warp at the Botanical Conservatory! Weather permitting, this cult classic movie is shown on the outdoor Terrace as part of the Downtown Improvement District’s Fright Night. Lawn chairs welcome and encouraged. Food and beverage available for purchase from Mad Anthony Brewing Company; no outside food or beverage permitted. Please no rice or confetti during this participatory movie event. Rated R with content not suitable for younger audiences. Admission $4 ages 18+; $2 ages 17 and under (must be accompanied by an adult). Sponsored by Majic 95.1 and Alt 102.3.


Garden Trick-or-Treat

Saturday, October 16, 12:00-3:00 p.m.

Gather up the kiddos for this family friendly (not-so-scary) event as part of the Downtown Improvement District’s Fright Night festivities. Everyone is invited to wear their favorite costumes, listen to spook-tacular tricks and enjoy sweet treats at the Conservatory! Also, snap boo-tiful photos when making your way through the scenic outdoor Pumpkin Path. Regular Conservatory admission applies. Sponsored by Majic 95.1.


Pumpkin Path Display

October 5-31, Public hours

We welcome you to the Pumpkin Path where you may enjoy fall surroundings in our outdoor Exploration Garden decorated in its seasonal best. As part of this interactive display, see if you can outsmart the garden gnomes who are back and more mischievous than before. You are also invited to take part in photo ops and festive activities that reveal the weight of the biggest pumpkin! Included with regular Conservatory admission. Thursday-Saturday: October 21-23, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Unearth gemstones to take home during WILD WEST Sessions at the Botanical Conservatory! A free bag of soil to sort using an old-fashioned mining sluice is included with regular admission and while supplies last. Additional mining material is available for purchase throughout the “Visions of the Old West” garden exhibit. No registration required.

Stroll down the main street of a not-quite-Ghost Town, listen to ragtime tunes from the honky-tonk saloon and appreciate the wild and rugged beauty of cacti, succulents and wildflowers in the surrounding hillsides. Pump water from the community well, play a game of cracker-barrel checkers in the shade and look over the “WANTED” posters for local outlaws. Summer annuals will make way for autumn chrysanthemums in warm russets, tawny golds and blazing orange. Sponsored by the  M.E. Raker Foundation and Wilson Foundation.


$1 Night Insight: Paint a Pumpkin

Thursday, October 7, 6:00-7:00 p.m.

What could be cuter than a mini pumpkin painted by the one and only you? You won’t want to miss out on this opportunity that is fun for the whole family! On the first Thursday night of the month, Conservatory admission is just $1, parking is free, and there is a special $1 Night Insight fun themed activity from 6:00- 7:00 p.m. No registration required.

Succulent Pumpkins

Thursday, October 7, 6 – 7:30 p.m.

Session Fee: $19

The time has come, once again, to pair pumpkins with your favorite succulents! Join returning instructor and succulent enthusiast Nancy Murphy in placing succulent cuttings on miniature stacked pumpkins to enjoy this season. You will also learn expert tips on how to maintain and multiply your new plants once the autumn season is over. Individual garden admission included. Ages 15+.


Pumpkin Macramé

Saturday, October 23, 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Session Fee: $26

Accompanied by boho macramé, this decorative hanger incorporates a fall pumpkin that can eventually be swapped out with a 4-6” planter! Create one of your own with returning instructor Tiffany Welbaum who will facilitate this beginner level workshop while providing step-by-step instruction on doing simple knotting techniques with naturalized cotton rope. Sign up with your best buds then visit the gardens, Conservatory Shop and Conjure Coffee, too. Conservatory admission included. Ages 15+.


Forest Bathing for Youth

Tuesday, October 12, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Session Fee: $22

Leave those electronics at home and get in on some nature connectivity with the therapeutic practice of forest bathing. Seasoned guide Christy Knecht will facilitate an experience of reconnecting with nature and deepening awareness while mindfully moving through the garden. Learn more at Ages 8-15. Conservatory admission included for one adult guardian to visit for duration of the workshop. Great for homeschoolers!
