When you join the Conservatory's volunteer program, you share your time and knowledge and enjoy fellowship among the wonders of nature.
General areas of service include staffing the front desk, serving as a cashier or grooming plants in the gift shop, helping with special events, helping with mailings or office administration, and assisting with adult or youth tours.
Volunteers are always welcome at the Botanical Conservatory!

Volunteer Opportunities

Front Desk Volunteers: Volunteers greet our guests, ring up admissions, and answer the main Conservatory telephone, transferring calls to the appropriate staff. Volunteers either work a 9:30 am to 1 pm morning shift or a 1 to 5 pm afternoon shift Monday through Saturday and Noon until 4 pm on Sunday. “Regular” and “On Call” positions are available. Training is provided. All shifts are available.
Tulip Tree Gift Shop Sales: The gift shop is open daily Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday Noon to 4 pm. We are looking for volunteers to commit to a regular schedule. Morning shifts are from 10 am to 1 pm and afternoon shifts are from 1 to 5 pm Monday ~ Saturday. These volunteers are experts in customer service, ringing up sales, and fulfilling other duties in a retail setting. Volunteers work in teams of two. Training is provided. All shifts are available.
Tour guides/Docents: Volunteers greet and escort our scheduled childrenâs and adult tours throughout the Conservatory. They use their time and encouragement to help our guests learn about plant diversity. Customer service skills are needed, along with the ability to walk the length of the facility. No experience is necessary. Training is provided.
Special Event Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to staff our many special events throughout the year. The volunteers serve as support for the large crowds that attend these programs. This position is on-call - working around your current availability. Bulk Mail Volunteers: We do several major mailings per year, plus monthly mailings, and volunteers are needed to help process them and prepare them for mailing. Training is provided. On-call positions, as needed.
