Fort Wayne, Ind. – The following events and programs are happening at the Botanical Conservatory in October.

Punkin Path

October 6-November 1, Regular Conservatory hours

Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.

The Botanical Conservatory welcomes visitors to the Punkin Path enjoy fall surroundings in our outdoor Exploration Garden decorated in its seasonal best! As part of this interactive display, visitors can take part in festive activities, photo ops and brain teasers that reveal a secret message along the way. Everyone’s favorite garden gnomes will also be back and more mischievous than ever before. Included with regular Conservatory admission. Sponsored by 97.3 WMEE.

Garden Trick or Treat

Saturday, October 17, 12:00-3:00 p.m.

Gather up the kiddos for this fun (not-so-scary) event. Visitors can dress in a favorite costume and join us in this new experience at the Conservatory where they may listen to a trick and enjoy a treat at several stations set up throughout our indoor and outdoor gardens! Also, visitors can catch a spell and snap boo-tiful photos when making their way through the scenic Punkin Path. Regular Conservatory admission applies: $5/adult, $3/child; free for ages 2 and under.

 

Present Tense, Future Calm

Exhibit Open through November 15

This summer and fall, the Conservatory invites visitors to escape the turbulence of daily life when embarking on a journey and exploring a garden state of mind. All are welcome to step into our Showcase Garden, designed to help visitors pause, relax and reflect. Sponsored by the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation, PBS Fort Wayne & MAJIC 95.1.

Succulent Pumpkins

Thursday, Oct. 15, 6-7:30 pm (Registration deadline: October 8)

Session Fee: $17

Participants will join returning instructor and succulent enthusiast Nancy Murphy in placing succulent cuttings on a miniature pumpkin to enjoy this season. They will also learn expert tips on how to maintain and multiply the new plants once the autumn season is over. Individual garden admission included. Ages 15+.

Alcohol Inks

Thursday, Oct. 29, 6-7:30 pm (Registration deadline: October 22)

Session Fee: $17

Make liquid art with the effects of dye-based inks and rubbing alcohol in this creative workshop for the artist at heart. Visitors can pick a desired color scheme and join experienced instructors in applying a translucent and flowing medium on two small ceramic tiles that can be used or displayed. While the masterpieces are drying, visitors are invited to visit the gardens! Ages 15+.

Garden Preschool: Pumpkins and Gourds

Tuesday, Oct. 20, 10 – 11 a.m.

Registration Deadline: Oct 13

Session Fee: $6 (Member or Volunteer Fee: $4)

While encouraging the basics of garden exploration at a young age, each Garden Preschool class examines a related theme through hands-on crafts, stories and snacks. Garden activities are sure to get everyone thinking! Adult guardians are required to participate for the duration, but registration is only required for children. Please indicate if a participant has food allergies. Ages 3-5.
